I do tire of all the piecing sometimes...

For a week I worked on the Starry Night quilt in every moment possible.  But after my third trip to Joann's to get more fabric (it was near impossible to estimate how much I would need in advance) and a whole day without any sewing, my momentum and motivation seem to have dissipated.  But I am SO close to being done with these blocks!  Unfortunately I'm also to the point with this quilt that I am just getting sick of piecing it (I just want to get to the fun quilting part already)!  SO many strips and ironing.  I keep thinking I'm almost done and then there are more to do, ugh.  But this time, really, I'm almost there!  Only 8-9 whole blocks left to make, a few partial blocks, and a few I may re-do so it flows a little better.

Finished with the blues!  Well...mostly.  The vertical blocks really need to be redone, they don't flow at all, some of the horizontal blocks need to be rearranged/distributed better, and I think I will move the bottom star over.

Started on the greens!  At least it's a different color, right?

My design wall isn't tall enough to accommodate the whole quilt, so the greens are getting stacked on each other...and occasionally rearranged by the small people.

I've decided to do as much as I can this week, then work on some other projects that have impending deadlines...and something small, fun and pretty to get some quilting mojo flowing!  I would take a break now, but my sewing tables and ironing board are covered in various strips, scraps and left overs.

  2. Wow! That's gonna be amazing! Can't to see it finished. And I hate it when all your motivation stalls, happens to me more frequently than I like. Good luck!

  4. This is going to be gorgeous!! I know how it feels to loose your momentum on a quilt. Just make sure you don't give up!

  5. This is looking really cool! Love the contrast between all the blues, and don't find that the vertical blocks interrupt the flow.

  10. It's coming along quite nice! It will be worth all your time invested in it as it is going to be an amazing quilt! When I get to the place where a quilt is dragging on I watch movies or shows while I am sewing, piecing or quilting.

And your comment about blocks being rearranged by the small people is so true over here too!

  13. Wow' I love the originality and unexpectedness of your quilt. Your frustration came through loud and strong and I hear you!!! Sometimes the piecing does get to be too much, good to insert another project for a bit!!!
