The quilting of
Starry Night continues. It is a lot of quilting, and unfortunately all very similar...so rather boring to show off the progress. Also kind of hard to photograph, especially inside. Don't worry, when it's done I'll do a proper photo-shoot with good lighting and like a million photos.

I finished the hills! |
 |
A few stars got white halos in addition to the yellow. |
 |
You can start to see the swirls in the sky! They still need more lines of stitching. |
The back is where you can really see how much I've done:
 |
There are about a million threads to tie off, bury, and/or trim. |
 |
Next is adding lines in the rest of the sky in a navy or royal blue to help stabilize the rest of the quilt, and hopefully avoid gathering/wrinkling issues. Then I'll fill them all in so the quilt is consistently quilted about 1/4" apart. |
This is one quilt I really wish I had a long arm for--almost all of the quilting is long, sweeping lines, that would be fairly fast and simple on a long arm, but are cumbersome and awkward on a domestic. And despite my best attempts, the lines aren't very smooth...and far from perfect, but that is a discussion for another post!
It's really coming together Renee. I can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteJust wow.
ReplyDeleteJust a million other pictures?? lol. I wish I had a long arm too. I just think it would be so much fun to draw all over the fiber! I think I'm going to get to play with one in Jan... good thing I really can't afford it, I might like it!
ReplyDeleteI love all the sweepy quilting, it's looking so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks awesome.
ReplyDeletethis one stood out! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCool. It really adds a movement to it. Looking forward to the final and I'm sure you are too :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's coming along nicely. I like seeing people just keep going at a job until it's done. If I was making this quilt, this would be about the time where I would set it aside and not work on it for about two years. You can do it! not long to go now. You're doing an amazing job, long arm or no long arm.
ReplyDeleteIt's really coming along really nicely Renee. I can't wait to see it finished. Your quilt looks awesome and you are doing any amazing job! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI love, love looking at this quilt! !!! Very magical!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding! Vincent would be proud!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your quilting is lovely!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a huge quilting project for a domestic. I am curious, what type, and size thread do you like to use for this type of quilting? Also, what is your batting choice and why?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful swirls. I've been wondering about doing long line quilt patterns with DSM. I'll have to learn to stop and start smoothly, I guess.
ReplyDeleteIt's coming along great, Renee!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness it looks enormous. I hope the sky goes according to plan. The hills look great - I especially like the shades of green.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilting detail on the back! Thanks for linking up :)
