I've been quilting on this for a week now (you can see my first post about this quilt here) and thought I'd share my progress so far--these are photos I took at the beginning and after each bobbin:
ABQMQG banner after basting.
ABQMQG banner--more designs on the mountain and 2.5 hot air balloons.
ABQMQG banner--all 4 balloons finished, started on the air current quilting (after much discussion and help from Yvonne @Quilting Jet Girl)
The air current swirls are exhausting for the arms and shoulders, but I wanted to quilt them before the edges were stiff with quilting. I'm glad I decided on the filler design vs echo quilting because the filler is a lot more manageable on my sewing machine!
ABQMQG banner--more windy swirl quilting, some filler (bottom left) and more mountain quilting. Don't worry, I'll finish those sun rays soon!
I'm beginning to worry about the wavy-ness of the bottom of the quilt (under the mountains)--it was wavy when I got it, and they only get more pronounced as I quilt. I'm worried the banner will always have a wavy bottom. :-/ I'm planning some tight quilting pattern to help pull it in (piano keys or horizontal), but I don't think this is just something that you can quilt out...
Anyway, I'm pretty excited about how it's coming together! Kind of dreading the quilting around the letters though, haha.
